400 years of music, 70 minutes, 5 languages, 2 boys, 1 purpose:
To raise money for Childhood Cancer Research
Myron and Archie were halfway through recording a cancer charity album when Myron’s brother, Kasper, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive childhood cancer. Every year around 400,000 children under the age of 19 are diagnosed with cancer but even in high income countries, one in five will not survive 5 years.
Witnessing first hand Myron’s brother undergoing gruelling treatment protocols, Myron and Archie redoubled their efforts and this musical collaboration has become an impassioned bid to raise desperately needed funds for Childhood Cancer Research to find better treatments for the millions of children who must face this traumatic journey.
Lockdown presented such obstacles to rehearsing and recording that there were times when completing the project at all before the boys’ voices changed seemed actually impossible but the boys have been supported by musical giants on whose shoulders they were able to stand. Michael Haslam wrote a unique set of arrangements to suit perfectly the two treble voices. The Gabriel Quartet, pianist Maki Sekiya, organists Alex Pott and Daniel Matheson, not to mention the magnificent producers and sound engineers were also an absolute phenomenon.
