Ordinary Children look and learn!
We love the design of these mugs, great to have the Chinese characters around the house and being mindful about our natural world is super close to our hearts but they are also fun and interesting gifts as can be customized with text / names below the Chinese characters.

We love the mixed boxes of wonderfully fresh organic fruit and vegetables that arrive fortnightly from Shawganic. There are some delicious staples and many delightful surprises. Martina Shaw (someone of impeccable taste – pun intended) is cherry picking the best produce for her own table and for her friends, not just her clients’ – which says it all in terms of quality assurance.
Even more convenient, we can add various other high quality reasonably priced grocery items such as nuts, honey, salt, sugar, raw coca powder, coconut oil, chia seeds, muesli, quinoa to come with the order and choose from a range of organic toiletries, laundry, household and babycare products from EcoStore and / Sonnett.
Roll on our second decade of lovely Shawganic service.

We love the hilarious antics of these childhood stories, written by a born storyteller, Steve Bernstein.
Q2 Studio Professional Services
Sound Recording Studio
28c, Tower B, Billion Centre, 1 Wang Kwong Road, Kowloon
2314 3118, Thomas, 9741 6368
We recorded the music at Q2 which has excellent recording facilities and a Yamaha grand piano. Thomas, though obviously a very talented professional and used to dealing with major artists, was incredibly calm, patient and helpful with our virgin sound recording. The children were inspired to see him at work and the service was excellent. We thought the rough mix he provided us with was good enough to be our final version but he may not agree!
Kasper, Tristan and Myron think all kids everywhere should get something professionally recorded. You practice for it like mad, just as you would for a music exam but it is SO much more fun!
Panasonic Lumix-GF1 with 14:45 lens
We were given this camera second hand by a friend (who we will love for ever). It is excellent at taking photos in daylight of children in motion. Since we didn’t have a video camera we used the video setting on the GF1 to film most of the footage for Ordinary Child.
The underwater shots were taken with a Canon S95 wrapped in a heavy duty plastic bag with weights taped onto it to stop it floating up. We dived down and placed it at the bottom of the pool. You can buy special waterproof camera bags for this purpose.

Second hand camera and lens shop
Shop 146, 1/F Oriental 188 Shopping Centre, 188 Wan Chai Road, Wanchai,

Second hand camera lenses (often barely used and sometimes even new in the box) and also cameras, for good prices and the flexibility to sell back to the shop if you want to try something else after a while. Great advice and technical expertise for those who’d like to experiment but don’t have the budget to buy multiple lenses on the off chance they like them. LensSearch also sells second hand camera bodies.

Piano restoration and tuning

Great tuning service and excellent restoration when we were desperate as one of the piano hammers broke a few days before we were booked to record our song! We really appreciated the personable and highly professional service.

Superb tutorial series that treats you like a total novice but not like a total idiot! We watched a significant number of the 110 episodes which were INVALUABLE.

The largest swim club in Hong Kong, Stanford Swim School has a very strong competitive team (the Winners Team) but also many Hong Kong-wide competitions for all students. We think our swim instructor Allen Man (文家倫) is outstanding and an exceptionally talented teacher.
Ganes Gurung,
Tennis Instructor
6447 0905
Ganes is from Nepal and teaches mostly in the Wanchai / Causeway Bay area.
He has an unrelenting eye for poor tennis practices and adjusts the children’s strokes over and over again, transferring to them strong muscle memories that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
If the strokes are right, the tennis is in flow, if the tennis is in flow the children experience a deep seated satisfaction from playing. The enjoyment of doing something well is the greatest gift we could ask for!
